• You can connect your phone to your watch via bluetooth, this option does not require a separate data plan. However, if you would like to have the option of leaving your phone at home and take calls or reply to texts while away from home without your phone, you will need LTE connection which will require a separate data plan.

• For the LTE, I'm not sure. But for the Bluetooth, no. It runs straight from your phone's Bluetooth connection.
