“I have this charger came with my 42mm Galaxy Watch which broke and I have one from my Gear S3 I gave my husband. I just got the Active 2 is this supposed to work with it cause I got a message that said use original charger?”

I have the Galaxy Watch 46mm and bought this charger for my office. It says the same thing about using original charger but still works. Samsung must have tied their watches to the original charging dock via serial number. So if it charges your active 2, everything is good.
