I use as main sound . Tv controller will not change volume on sound bar but does turn it on off. Found the sound is better if TV sound is muted & just use the bar as main sound supply.. We leave it in movie mode seems to give a very good surround experience that way, bar is just sitting on tv stand in front of the tv with the sub behind our seating at waist level 12 feet from tv.
