• Choose one or the other, not both, now the preferred way is with an HDMI cable and and plug into the TV HDMI ARC (auto return channel)

• Hi Jean, You would want to pick Digital Optical OR a HDMI cable. To get the best out of the HW-B650 Soundbar we recommend using a HDMI cable and plug it in to the ARC port of the TV. ^Andrew

• If your tv has an HDMI port labeled with (ARC) or (eARC) then the single HDMI cable should be your best option. Make sure you plug it into the correct port on the soundar labeled (to TV). ARC allows you to control the soundbar power and volume using your tv remote. If not, use the optical cable only. You should only need one cable from tv to soundbar either case. Also make sure the soundbar is on the correct input.
