Hi Dan! The HW-Q65T features two parts; the soundbar, and the wireless rear speaker kit. The soundbar itself supports Dolby 5.1 and DTS Virtual:X without the addition of the rear speakers. When connecting the included rear speakers the system is now a complete 7.1ch audio system. ^Tim
