I have a TCL and it works like a charm. I'm using the eARC HDMI cable that was provided. TV detected it on the first try.

For an older TV and over the air, use digital optical audio cable connection. Run all streaming like Chromecast etc directly to the soundbar and then HDMI back to the TV, using the supplied cable. This worked on my Toshiba with non eARC/ARC ability, sound quality would be better using that as the sound transport but I didn't need a new TV.

The HW-Q850D Soundbar features three ways to connect to an external device: HDMI (ARC), digital optical audio, and Bluetooth wireless audio technology. If your TV is compatible with one of these three audio connections, you should have no issue connecting the soundbar to your TV. ~Samsung Solutions
