“Did anyone else only receive an HDMI cable in the box? The description and specifications clearly state that an optical cable is included, but even the manual says that it's not. What gives?”

Hi RiotPenguin, thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will get this corrected. The S50A does not include a digital optical cable in the box, and should come with an HDMI cable included. ^Tim
