I have only used regular tap water and it does a great job with just that for me! I had not thought about using distilled. I'm sure that would not hurt. The only transfer of water is from the plastic water tank pad that attaches to the Jetbot and a cloth/ sponge hole that feeds the water from the tank to the actual jetbot cleaning pad. There is no direct water exposure to any internal Jetbot parts or motors ect to gum up with impurities in the water.
