• Yes, unfortunately you are correct. I was disappointed by this as well. Other than that, I really like this dishwasher.

• I think that it protects the bottom inside of the dishwasher.

• The dishwasher should mount far enough back that you can have one complete kick panel across your cabinets and dishwasher.
