I have this exact model spin and have upgraded many times now. After extensive research I found that the m.2 slot is meant for a m.2 sata 3 2280 SSD drive. Nvme is useless over this connection being that it is a Sata 3 interface so the transfer speed tops out at what Sata 3 is capable of. However, Sata 3 SSD is still a huge performance upgrade and is definitely worth it.
