“Hi, I just got this monitor and the display from a Mac/PC does not connect to the monitor via the USB. The displays only seem to be compatible with HDMI. Is this by design? Does the USB not work to connect to other displays? Thanks!”

• Correct the USB input port is intended to allow the monitor to function as a USB hub to connect USB peripherals to, such as your mouse and keyboard. The monitor only receives a picture input from the HDMI or DP inputs.

• You can't display video over usb. You can display over thunderbolt which looks like a usb-c connection, but also takes a special thunderbolt rated cable as well. They make thunderbolt to hdmi or displayport adapters.
