“How big is the charging base? I'd like to put this under/behind my couch against the wall, but don't know the the charger will fit. I know the <4" vacuum will, but not sure about the charging base.”

You will need at least 4” and the manufacturer recommends leaving 6” on each side to allow proper docking. I’ve been fortunate to put ir between my chair which only left 2” room on each side.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Base height is 5 inches. But you really can't expect the vacuum to be able to find the charging base if it is hidden under or behind a couch. Just pick an open area and you'll get used to it.
