- Answer I have the same problem, half way through cleaning it stopped returning to the base and just dies. Worked great for a long time but now it doesn't. What was your remedy for the problem?

QuestionHow does this compare to the roomba with dog hair? With a lab the hair is everywhere!

- Answer I have a German Shepard that sheds all year around and it picks up a lot of hair on each cleaning. That's the good part the bad is I have to empty the dust collector after every cleaning. The brush does not seem to wrap up with hair the way the Roomba does. I have had this one for about 3 weeks and have not had to remove the brush to clean yet.

- Answer Well with this specific model the run time is about 30min and it does my entire house and they goes back itself to charge. It does two bedrooms, living/dining and kitchen, about 1,200 sq ft.

QuestionDoes the 7040 self clean the brush? I have very long hair that gets tangled on vac brushes.

- Answer The brush is not self cleaning. But, I pull out anything wrapped around the brush each time I empty the bin. It's easier than unwrapping hair from the brush on my regular vacuum and I do it frequently, so it's not bad.

QuestionThe manual mentions boundary markers but doesnt provide any. Anyone successful with the R7040 in setting boundaries without having to close doors or putting something physical to block the path?

- Answer It does not include boundary markers in the box. You have to purchase them separately.

QuestionDo you have to have WiFi to run this?

- Answer No, WiFi isn't required but it does make the experience better. It comes with a remote that you use to set everything up without WiFi. If you have WiFi you can use the Samsung smart home app to control it from anywhere and get notifications of its progress.

- Answer I've tried 3 different robot vacuums - with 1 dog & 1 cat. Out of the Samsung, Neato & Roomba, my favorite is the Neato. The Samsung works OK on pet hair, but the way the filter gathers hair it gets stuck and doesn't make it all the way into the dust bin.

- Answer It worked decent on carpet, but if it's a shag rug - it will roll up the edges and get stuck.

QuestionMy staircase is open, meaning no rails to keep anyone or anything from falling down the stairs. Will the Powerbot "sense" this opening and stop?

- Answer No it will not fall off your stair. However if the sensors underneath the robot get dirty or damage as time goes by, it will not detect a drop off and may allow your robot to fall. This is the same with all robot vacuum.

- Answer Absolutely, setup was extremely easy. Just use the Samsung app. Ours is setup to run everyday at 9:15am

- Answer Yes. Oddly, you have to use the Alexa Web App and Internet Explorer for it to work. It seems something about the pairing process using other browsers messes up the Samsung website. Modern browsers such as Edge and Chrome seem to have issues with it. I had no luck on mobile.

- Answer I do not have a dog, but it sure picks up cat hair. I didn't know my cats were falling apart, but with the amount of cat hair that is collected on each run I could have built another cat. Works really great. My wife would not let me return the Samsung Powerbot. I would recommend.

QuestionI have a pattern carpet and my old rumba refuses to do the black areas on this carpet. Which means still vacuuming a few times a week since everything shows up on the black. Does this model avoid black areas of a carpet?

- Answer No it doesn't. I actually tried using a black felt cloth as a barrier because I read you can fool the cameras on some robot vacs to thinking it's a ledge. The Samsung Powerbot went right over it without hesitation.

- Answer It bumps into very few things, but when it does I’ve noticed it bumps into furniture that is slightly above its sight line. For example, I have a high top table in my kitchen. It can go completely under the center of it, but if it doesn’t go dead center, it will bump the table leg. The table is black. It does correct itself quickly if it hits something. I have 3 of these in my house and they have not damaged anything.
