You can, provided the Blu-Ray player has a composite or component output. With the BD-E5300, this model does not have composite or component outputs (only HDMI), so this would not be ideal for a SD (standard definition) television. Some Samsung 2012 Home Theater systems will have composite outputs, but this model of Blu-Ray player does not. Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr.Samsung
