“Does the case protect the camera lens and allow the phone to lay flat?”

Yes. After the case is on the camera bump is now recessed a bit to protect the lenses and the phone will lay flat. I would still get a screen/lens protector however.

The case is slightly raised above the cameras and it lays flat with no wobbling.

The cover protects the corners of the phone but I believe that depending on the angle that it can land the screen can break i suggest getting a screen protector as well.
