“I am not sure if the dryer should be this loud. There is no vibration from the machine. The noise is a mechanical hum that makes the unit louder than the washer. I'm trying to determine if this is normal or a faulty unit. Is this unit loud?”

My dryer is pretty quiet, you might have a idler pulley for the belt going bad.

Hi there Dave! The dryer will make some noises. However, to determine if what you're hearing is normal or not, you can check out this link (http://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01000979/) which has a breakdown of different sounds. ^Jecca
