Smartthigns allows you to have many hubs, they are just installed as different locations and you can switch locations in the app. I think one security panel is all that you would need for a typical home. This security panel can be wall mounted or counter top mounted. It comes with a wall plug and has a battery backup.

It can sit on a counter, it has two mounting positions for low counters and high counters, that works great. You need to normally have it in a wall outlet but it was a 7 day battery in the event of tampering or power loss.
