“Most smoke detector have a expected life of 5-10 years. I can not find anywhere what is the expected life of this one. Only that it has a 1 yr warranty. Surely you do not expect your customers to by new smoke detectors for their homes or businesses yearly”

I just purchased 8 smoke detectors and 4 carbon detectors the manual says they have a 9 to 10 year life just like your regular detectors. Which was one of the reasons I bought these over the nest system. They only work with the ADT smartthings hub. I purchased the hub off eBay for 80 bucks. I had no issues with connections to the hub or any connections problems aferwards. My home is 5k sq ft.
