- Answer I ordered the SAMSUNG SMARTTHINGS ADT SMOKE ALARM and found it does not connect to a regular SmartThings hub. I returned it and got the First Alert Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (ZCOMBO) which works nicely. Surprisingly, Best Buy sells the ADT version but not the First Alert ZCOMBO one. I got the ZCOMBO on line at Lowes. I hope that helps.

QuestionMost smoke detector have a expected life of 5-10 years. I can not find anywhere what is the expected life of this one. Only that it has a 1 yr warranty. Surely you do not expect your customers to by new smoke detectors for their homes or businesses yearly

- Answer I just purchased 8 smoke detectors and 4 carbon detectors the manual says they have a 9 to 10 year life just like your regular detectors. Which was one of the reasons I bought these over the nest system. They only work with the ADT smartthings hub. I purchased the hub off eBay for 80 bucks. I had no issues with connections to the hub or any connections problems aferwards. My home is 5k sq ft.

QuestionDoes anyone know what the detection type is; e.g. photoelectric, ionzation, etc.? Also, are these interconnected with one another. Local fire code requires smoke alarms to be interconnected for rentals. Usually it is hardwired but sometimes other
