Probably, but start with an empty one. I use it on my Dish Hopper. Works fine but the Dish(r) software will reformat the drive to proprietary operating system and wipe anything already on the drive. Also, I can only play the recorded items back through the DVR. I have not (yet) found a converter to play recorded movies on other platforms (eg PC).
