On a new computer I'm having built, the speed on that internal SSD drive and this external one appear to match fairly closely. Joke; probably because of those irritatingly short cables.)
Depending on your motherboard, This SSD is a great option I guess to answer your question USB-C is not always created equally and depending on how you have your system configured it could affect your retrieval speeds this would require some testing but in theory it should work, most games are buffered in your RAM during gameplay and the speeds off this drive are plenty fast enough for data retrieval from most of today’s gaming demands.
It wont be as fast. if you are loading games into it you will see a slight increase in loading times. (it will be noticable if you have been using internal ssd for a couple years), however if you want to install games on to the drive you can play them on any computer that will support it. so there is a huge convenience factor there
Not just as fast as a 2.4 nvme but almost as fast as a pci slot. So yes, youll be fine with using this harddrive as you intend.
Yup I use it with my Surface Book for storing my games and I have no problems.
