“I bought the adaptor and Samsung TV does not recognize it. Samsung support says I need to update TV software. How do I do that if I cannot connect to internet? Samsung said they would send me an email with a link, but it never came.”

Im pretty sure you have to download the new software from your desktop/laptop from the Samsung website, save it to a USB flash drive, and then plug the flash drive to your TV and it should recognize it and install updated SW.
