Mind sits vertical across the room. From there it is wired to the rear speakers...other folks have them laying under the couch. I followed the directions to a T ...up and running in 10 min

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The wireless transmission is by RF (radio frequency). It is not IR (infrared) like remote controls that need a direct line of sight. So unless you put the receiver behind a hunk of metal , you should be good. Hint- My set-up is in a 20x22 one-room cabin and these speakers are on top of the kitchen's wall cabinets with their receiver INSIDE (!) the cabinet above the wall-mounted microwave (sharing the microwave's 120v outlet).
