“Can I put the wireless module on an end table next to a couch and will it still maintain a connection? So how far off to one side can it be and still work? Or do you think it will work if I put it under the sofa facing the soundbar?”

I have my wireless module behind the couch about 15 ft away from the sound bar and it still works.. the speakers are attached to the module with wire but they have a lot of wire that can be stretched out. So you go spread out the speakers around the room..I put mine on the half wall behind the couch but they can be mounted on a wall.
