They aren't designed that way. They play sounds not normally heard with just soundbar, like people talking, aircraft flying over, explosions, gun fire, etc. Some movies or shows will have steady sound through them. You can check wiring to ensure red to re black to black and pluged in properly to receiver. Ensure wires inserted in speakers are making contact.
