The classes has to do with the writing speed(save to disc speed) and represents a certification. Class 4 provide a minimum of 4MB/s write speed and Class 10 - 10MB/s. This is useful especiallly when using with cameras with fast shutter speeds. Hope that helps!

Class 4 has a guaranteed minimum write speed of 4MB/s or higher while Class 10 has a guaranteed minimum write speed of 10MB/s or higher. You’ll probably be okay with a class 4 or 6 card for typical use in a digital camera, smartphone, or tablet. Class 10 cards are ideal if you’re shooting high-resolution videos or RAW photos.
