I'm not sure that this is an answer. This USB drive is a 2.0 just like every other one out there. The magic about this one is the tiny wi fi radio built in to make your data carrying life easier. It streams fast enough to watch smooth video with little to no buffering, plays content clearly and accurately. If you don't want to stream from it to your device then get a non-wifi version. Works great, app seems a little buggy from time to time. Overall I'd have to say "Great Product".

In the case of a Type A, it is a more horizontally oriented configuration where the end of the USB cord is flat. The Non Type A, is a more square plug. Both have four pins but are configured differently to coincide with the different mechanical shapes.
