• Yes usb flash drive work with all usb ports. Usb comes in 3 different versions but they are backward compatible.

• Yes it will work, otherwise you will need to format into a Windows file system. You will notice that it shows 7.6gb or something like and not the complete 8GB. There is a reason for that but thats a question for another day.

• It will work on any computer as long as the computer supports USB 2.0 which almost all computers now-a-days do :)

• Assuming your Gateway laptop has a working USB2.0 port (a fair assumption) and you are running Windows XP or newer then I would say yes -it should work.
