Hi, please be informed that the speed of an externally connected storage device is mainly dependent on the interface used to connect the external storage device. The optimal transfer speeds of this external SSD Drive can be achieved when it is connected via a USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface. If your old MacBook Pro has older USB 2.0/ USB 3.0 interface USB ports, then it will achieve maximum transfer speeds supported by your MacBook's USB Ports within the maximum transfer speeds supported by this SSD Drive. In order to know more about the USB Ports of your MacBook Pro, it would be best to contact Apple Customer Support.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works with my 2015 MacBook Pro 15" and gets 940mpbs+ for both read and write!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will likely faster than the your Apple Macbook Pro internal SSD as this portable SSD is the newer product.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wouldn't see any reason why it wouldn't. The drive comes formatted in exFat so that way it can be used with Windows and Mac without needing to change the file system. It will also work over USB 3.0 to Type C. It's going to be slower than going from Type C 3.1/3.2 to Type C on the side of the drive. I was able to get around 450MB/s over the included adapter that is USB 3.0 to Type-C.
