in order foe the data files to be compatible with both a Mac and Windows system, you have to format this drive as EXFAT. Then it can go into a Windows machine and be readable.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The SanDisk uses a format called exFat which is readable and writeable to all newer pcs and Macs. But if your old PC can't see it then you can plug your windows hard drives into your Mac and do the transfer there. Your Mac can read the Windows drives and copy files from them over to the SanDisk. You may need an adaptor to plug them in.
