“I'm trying to back up my computer and the thing says it's full and nothing is on it. Do I need to format it first?”

If your SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD appears full despite having no content, it may need to be reformatted, especially if it’s using a file system that is not fully compatible with your operating system. First, check for data backup, as formatting is a data-destructive process. However, if it is genuinely empty and still not functioning, formatting it according to your operating system may help resolve the issue. For Windows PCs, use NTFS for formatting. Yes, format according to the computer(s) it will be used on. You may have other factors but in short: - Windows PC only: NTFS - Mac only: APFS or HFS+ - Windows and Mac: exFAT - Other devices (cameras, TVs, gaming consoles): Usually exFAT or FAT32
