“Does the screen stay on the entire time or does it blank out after a few seconds? Not a big fan of the huge screen - preferred the old Clip +'s as it was simple. I'm thinking the bigger screen probably drains more power - how long does it stay on after a button-press?”

It has a 25 hour rating for battery life with a single charge. It will enter sleep mode after short periods.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The screen time is about the same as the older versions and I believe it's user adjustable. It doesn't seem a affect battery life since the new design has MUCH longer battery life. THe older versions lasted 6-8 hours on a charge, where I get about 20 hours per charge on the Sport. The screen size is somewhat moot since it only shows a scroll at the bottom fo the screen with the song info.

Please try again later.So i ended up getting it - looks like you can decrease the length of time the backlight stays on and the brightness of the screen so hopefully that should stretch the batt life and no one needs to know you have a Beyonce song in your gangsta gym playlist.
