• Yes. Surprisingly easy to replace at that. Just be sure to buy the correct tools to open it (pretty sure you need a 3 lobe screwdriver). Apple OS has the cloning software built in. And your MacBook Pro will feel like a brand new amazing machine with this upgrade. So so so worth the effort.

• Yes, any SSD will be compatible with your Macbook Pro. I installed it in my MacBook Pro 2011.. You can also install it yourself relatively easily with a very small Philips screwdriver. Go on line to see how to do it.
