Most units you buy have built in memory for storing your data, pictures, music, etc. The built in memory usually is not large enough to hold everything you have, so in order to extent your storage, you have to buy external memory that slips into a slot on your device. That is what the 32G micro SDHC unit idoes, it extends your storage so you can hold more data, etc.

The micro when used without the adapter, directly fits most newer cell phones and other newer digital devices.
