Will this be compatible with the Lenovo e540 ? null

Yes, be aware that you will either need to do a clean install of windows or clone the drive. There is free software to clone (I used minitool partition wizard) but you will likely need a sata to USB adapter if you have only one slot for a drive

It should work with any SATA interface. Mine took 5 minutes to change out.
