Yes it is. I replaced a failed HDD with the Sandisk Ultra 512GB SSD about a week ago.

512gb is typically the largest size earlier bios versions could support (actually smaller the older you go, heh). So the most significant concern of whether this or any other SATA interfacing drive is compatible, is simply making sure your laptop or desktop has a SATA interface drive controller. Original SATA, and SATA2 and SATA3 should all support this drive, however being a SATA3 drive will mean that maximum read/write speed will not be achieved on a SATA(1) or SATA2 interface.. Check your users guide for specifications, or the manufacturers website and make sure the drive interface is SATA. As for size compatibility, most newer computers (in the past 10years) can support the drive even if there is a small loss in capacity.
