You might have to purchase specialty screw driver, but it is fairly simple plug and play, make sure you transfer any adapters attached to original hard drive.

For a desktop replacement you should have to do nothing more than unplugging the cables on the current drive and replace it with the new drive.. Installing a new operating system is more involved, but is not specific to the drive you choose, it is specific to the operating system. For a laptop replacement you will first need to determine whether and how you get into the laptop, some laptops require a technician or the manufacturer themselves to replace a drive. Assuming you can get into the laptop yourself, it would be the same as a desktop.. unplug/replace/replug and then reinstall your operating system. If adding a drive to your computer, you will need to check that your computer has an additional SATA cable/connector and power connector - and place to mount the drive - then format the new drive under the procedure for whatever operating system you use.

Other thing to consider is that you may need to do a backup of your current Hard Drive if you are planning on using as a replacement. You will have two options: 1.- Do a backup and install the new SSD. After this you will have to install again the OS (windows, linux, etc) and then you will be able to restore your files. 2.- The alternative option is to use some cloning software to clone your current drive to the new SDD. This way you can install the SSD after the cloning and your computer will be exactly the same as before. About the install All this instructions have to be done with the device turned off. On laptops you will be able to remove either the top or the bottom cover then look for the current HDD inside, remove and install the new one. You can do a web search with the model of your laptop plus "replace hard drive" this will give you a more detailed explanation on how to do this and with pictures. If it is a Desktop PC it would be more easy, just need to remove the cover of the tower and look for the HDD inside disconnect the cables and connect the new one. You have to be sure you secure the new SSD the same way the older drive was.

Install this new hard drive in its place. Reconnect battery. Boot into BIOS to check to make sure computer is in AHCI mode. While in BIOS, change boot settings so you can boot from your OS installation media. Pretty much the same for a desktop, just have more room. Easier to get to hard drives. May need an 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to get drive to fit right.
