• USB 1.0 delivers a speed of 12 MB USB 2.0 delivers a speed of 480 MB USB 3.0 delivers a speed of 5 GB These speeds only reflect the USB technology and do not necessarily mean that the thumb drive, hard drive, etc. can actually run at those speeds.

USB 3 = 4.8Gbps USB 2 = 480Mbps USB 1 = 12Mbps Remenber real speeds will be significantly less and a faster drive, say USB 3, won't necessarily be faster than a USB 2 drive connected to the USB 2 port of your computer. That said, I have experienced faster speeds when a USB 3 drive is connected to a computer's USB 2 port. As they say, your mileage may vary.

• The difference is the price and the speed. The 2.0 is cheaper and slow. The 3.0 will cost a little bit more but the transfer speed is a lot faster. If you buy a USB 3.0 you will never go back to the 2.0 flash drive.

• USB three is much faster, but your computer must support USB 3 for it to work. It is backward compatible with USB 2 however.

• Physcially, USB 3.0 are color blue, and they have an addition 4 pins for higher speed. USB 2.0 are black color. USB 3.0 are designed to be 10x faster than USB 2.0.

• When paired with a USB 3.0 port, a USB 3.0 device should perform much faster than a USB 2.0 device. In practice, I have found any USB hard drive to be much faster than any USB flash drive. A USB 3.0 hard drive paired with a USB 3.0 port is fastest

• The transfer rates. Usb 2.0 480Mbps and 3.0 4.8Gbps. I transferred a 2gb file using a usb 3.0 is seconds compare minutes when using a usb 2.0 stick.

• If your computer has USB 3 ports definitely go with USB3 flash drive. MUCH faster transfers. Worth the extra cost.
