I couldn't tell you if it's 'the best' - but it is very fast, dependable, and has lots of space for music, plus it is dual format - USB A and USB C - for extra flexibility.

It comes with fat format out of the box and you can try it on the mac, but I am not sure if that will work for you. And TFS is also a third choice which is usually made for Windows machines. Exfat will work on both sides including your needs in the comment.
