I didn't check the formatting on it beforehand, but I used mine to create a recovery drive for my PC. That file was just under 20gb.

Just received the item from BestBuy by mail.
NO, NO - tech support answer was NOT correct:
the format is FAT32, so Description is WRONG:
""the 256GB size offers ample space for larger video files"."

That is Larger Video files - large than 4gb - canNOT be stored, the message is "File cannot be copied as FAT32 does not support such size.
