Depends on what you store on it. The smart TVs I've experienced work great with Microsoft compliant file systems but I've read that Apple/Mac files need to be saved using the same file system as Microsoft for them to work universally. Also, I think the only files a TV can read are MPG (compressed video) and JPG (compressed image) files. I'd check with the manufacturer to see if other file types are readable.
