“My mothers apple laptop has had it's days. (6 yrs old) She would like to get a new laptop, but does not want to lose her pics. Will this work to download her pics? She is 84, im in my 60's so we are both learning! lol thank you”

Absolutely, this works well for any addition storage needed to be saved. Keep in mind, that if your grandmother had an old Apple product she must have an Apple ID the best advice would be to (if she doesn’t have) download iCloud, she would use the same AppleID and password. Next step would be to backup her information on her iCloud, with the storage saved on her iCloud she’d be able to access any saved information such as; contact, pictures, etc on any Apple product just by resigning into her iCloud (just make sure she’s always backs up the information, again on her iCloud) If that’s to complicated this would be the easiest route, just transfer any file onto this USB. There’s more then enough storage to save 84 years of memory. Good luck
