Plugged into a USB 3.0 port, I don't see why it shouldn't work.

No because this is not a hard drive , but it can be used as extra storage

No this is not an SSD, its a USB flash drive. You can use it to make your Chrome Recovery media, if you haven't yet, that you will need to restore the Chrome OS should you actually replace the small ssd. You can review that procedure here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uaIiDjODTk

This drive is in addition to the SSD drive. The SSD is inside the laptop; this flash drive is outside the laptop.

No, what you're looking for is an internal SSD. This is an external flash drive, and is supposed to be plugged into your USB slot, not installed internally in the computer. Also, most Chromebooks do not have the option to change the SSD, but you should check and do research on your model.
