It should have no problem fitting in. The SATA SSD drives are not any bigger than the old drives with magnetic platters. . in fact. . they are usually the same length and width. . but not as high.

Fresh install is your best option and copy things from your old HD using a USB converter or connect to your CD ROM SATA Cable.
