“I have a Canon EOS Rebel XSi the saleman told me that this was compatible. it wont formant. the message is Cannot Format, Change card. I tried several times with and without the adapter. Please advise. thank you.”

Do you need to format ? When you buy a card , it's empty and don't need to formatted. I think.
