The shelves come pre-installed in the unit, but are very easy to adjust. They are secured with standard rack screws, so you can remove, adjust height, and re-install as needed. The blanking panels work in the same way as the shelves. The rails on the rack are standard size, so they'll accommodate rack-mountable gear just fine with the shelving.

The blanking panels are removable and can also be mounted at any rack unit level location. Standard 19" rack-mount equipment cannot be mounted over a shelf. If the rack mount ears are removable from the equipment and it's 18.5" or less wide it can be placed on a shelf.
