Doesn’t sound right. IF helped by Best Buy personnel, most know what works & what not. I told the BB associate what kind of TV I had (65” Sony) & I got that one. Voila! No problem installing. BUT- could be your TV holes vs mount are not compatible. Before I bought mine, I purchased one at BJs (smaller one that seemed to fit-but didn’t -I returned it). DOUBLE check before you return lest the “someone” you had working on it missed something. Good luck.
