Hi Jim, We don’t recommend using old holes for this mount, even if they’re located on studs. Re-using existing holes can compromise the strength of the attachment and isn’t considered a safe installation method for a heavy TV mount. For proper support, the mount should be installed using new holes drilled directly into the studs following the installation instructions.
