Yes, somewhat side to side too.

Yes, it allows the tv to be pulled away from the wall about 6-8 inches, tilted up and down as well as turned left and right. The design also allows sliding the TV side to side on the mount for centering, so you can get solid stud locations that might not be centered. I'm pretty happy with it!
