Hi, make sure the Kenwood is compatible with hand controls, we had the same issue with a JVC and I read online the stereo has to be hand control compatible or the interface is just an easy plug n play if you will. We have an 06 street glide n we are stuck in the same boat, paid 100 bucks for it n cant use hand controls.Google play or play store has an app you can download to turn your phone into a remote fyi
